Water Development and Sanitation Permanent Secretary Joe Kalusa says there is need to protect and guard jealously infrastructure that is being undertaken in the water sector.

He said Government is spending colossal sums of money and hence the need to protect the much needed infrastructure because water is life.

The Permanent Secretary has also acknowledged that some water treatment plants have outlived their life span and therefore need attention.

The PS has, however, expressed happiness with the quality of works so far done in improving the provision of water and sanitation services to consumers.

Mr. Kalusa noted that there was room for improvement in terms of expansion of the Kafue treatment plant in order to cater for the growing population.

Mr. Kalusa said this when he inspected the Kafue Water Bulk project and other water facilities in Kafue and Chilanga.
