On access to proper sanitation, the Minister reveals that over 100 percent improvement has been scored from 25 percent in 2014 to 54 percent in 2021.

Mr. Nakacinda says all this has been done by governments’ desire to have an equitable share of development to all in line with national set goals and aspirations.

Speaking during the 2021 World Water Day commemoration, held in Kafue this morning, Mr. Nakacinda through his Permanent Secretary, Mabvuto Sakala, has affirmed government’s commitment to having all access to water and sanitation services.

Mr. Nakacinda has also announced that over 5, 200 jobs have been created from water related projects around the country.

This year’s World Water Day is “Valuing Water”.

He notes that the Patriotic Front led administration has made the environment conducive to ensure water remains key to Zambia’s development agenda.

And the Minister has called on stakeholders to join in the fight against climate change through protection and conservation of the environment.

Mr. Nakacinda further adds that in addition to ensuring coherent and consistent implementation of measures to mitigate the effects of climate change, his Ministry has come up with various policies which include the National Water, National Water Supply and Sanitation and Climate Change policies.
