Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people of Northern Province is happy with the improved water reticulation system in Kasama.
The traditional leader says he is gratified with the significant progress government has made towards the provision of water supply and sanitation services in the district.
Chief Chitimukulu said this when Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister, Raphael Nakacinda, paid a courtesy call on him at his Kasama residence.
“I am impressed with the improvement government has made through Chambeshi Water and Sanitation Company to provide water services in Kasama District. Standards have improved and there is a lot of professionalism,” he says
Mr. Nakacinda highlighted the progress made on the Lake Tanganyika Development Project, Integrated Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Program.
Mr. Nakacinda says he would engage his Minister of Finance counterpart, Bwalya Ng’andu, to address the funding challenges some projects were facing.
The minister later inspected water infrastructure projects under the Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Programs.
Mr. Nakacinda is happy that the project
will see the facilitation of 10,000 water meters and 1,200 waterborne toilets thus draw closer to the 100 percent target.
Meanwhile, Kasama Central Member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa, who later joined the Minister’s inspection tour, described the massive development in water infrastructure under President Edgar Lungu’s administration as unprecedented.
He said coming to fruition of the water infrastructure projects meant increasing water coverage for the Kasama residence, which is a good development because have had no water for some time.
