EXPEDITE WORKS ON THE EUROS 156 MILLION ZAMBIA WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECT, DR. CHANDA

Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister, Jonas Chanda has directed the contractor engaged to implement the £156 million Zambia Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Chingola, Kavar, to expedite works on the project.

Dr. Chanda says President Edgar Lungu is spearheading water and sanitation projects across the country adding that the projects need to be on schedule.

Dr. Chanda says, once complete by 2024, the Zambia Water Supply and Sanitation Project will benefit 500, 000 people in Chingola, Mufulira and Chililabombwe.

He says the project is in line with the 2030 Vision of providing secure access to safe potable water sources and improved Sanitation facilities to 100 per cent of the population in both urban and rural areas.

He says his Ministry has invested over one billion dollars in water and sanitation projects on the Copperbelt.

The Minister said this when he and Chingola Mayor, Titus Tembo, and Copperbelt Provincial Chairperson, Nathan Chanda inspected the project site in Twatasha area.

The Minister also toured the Kafue Water Treatment Plant, which will be expanded under the project to meet the water supply demand to the population of Chingola.

Meanwhile,PF Provincial Chairman who is also Luanshya Mayor his worship Nathan Chanda hailed the PF government’s development in the water sector which has seen the provision of water and sanitation services increase in the entire province.

And Chingola Mayor, Titus Tembo says the project is a true testimony of President Edgar Lungu’s desire not leave anyone behind in the provision of clean and safe water as well as adequate sanitation .
