PARAMOUNT CHIEF MPEZENI PRAISES PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU FOR SPEARHEADING CLOSE TO 20 MILLION EUROS WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECTS

Chipata, 22nd December, 2020 – Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has praised President Edgar Lungu for spearheading water supply and sanitation projects in Chipata and other parts of Eastern Province to a tune of about 20 million Euros.
Paramount Chief Mpezeni says he is happy that Government is looking at the welfare of Zambians by providing them with clean and safe water and sanitation services, which he says has reduced water borne diseases.
The Paramount Chief says he will continue to support the Government of the day under President Edgar Lungu, as he delivers projects to the people.
The Nkosi yama Nkosi said this when Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Jonas Chanda briefed him on projects his Ministry, in partnership with Cooperating Partners is implementing.
Meanwhile Paramount Chief Mpezeni has called for peace and unity among Zambians.
Dr. Chanda explained that his Ministry through Eastern Water Supply and Sanitation Company has finalised procurement processes for the Chipata Urban Water Supply Project, which will cost 8 million Euros and benefit 200, 000 people.
The Minister further informed the Paramount Chief that another project , under rural water supply at a cost of 7 million Euros is set to commence targetting all the districts in the province.
Dr. Chanda said the project,which will also be implemented in Lusaka, Central and North Western Provinces will involve construction of 10 Boreholes in each district and five sanitation facilities.
He added that the project will also rehabilitate 20 existing Boreholes in all the districts.
